Cognitive-behavioral therapy in smoking cessation: a review of the literature
Brdičková, Naděžda ; Kulhánek, Adam (advisor) ; Rolová, Gabriela (referee)
Background: Smoking cessation is associated with significant health benefits. A review on the effectiveness of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) in smoking cessation would help identify proven effective interventions and enable more informed treatment decisions. Objective: The aim of this theoretical review is to map the effectiveness of CBT and its components in smoking cessation using a non-systematic search. Methods: 272 reviews published in English in the last 10 years were found in the PubMed database using keywords. These were sorted out and supplemented with other articles for a total of 108 processed articles. Results: The effectiveness of CBT in smoking cessation as a stand-alone treatment or treatment enhancing the pharmacotherapy has been demonstrated in large clinical trials, both in individual (RR vs. minimal intervention 1.57 (1.40 - 1.77)) and in group counseling (RR vs. self-help program 1.88 (1.52 - 2.33)). The effectiveness increased with the intensity of the therapy. Of the individual components, commitment, feedback to behavior, social reward, identity associated with changed behavior and financial reward were significantly effective. Information about emotional consequences and reframing the slip had a significantly negative impact. The effectiveness of improving coping skills...

E. G. Dolgikh Comparative study of color categories in Russian and Czech. Cognitive and Cultural Approach Summary The purpose of the study was to describe the contents of the selected categories of colors («Синий цвет», «Голубой цвет», «Коричневый цвет», «Серый цвет», «Розовый цвет», «Оранжевый цвет», «Фиолетовый цвет», «Modrá barva», «Hnědá barva», «Šedá barva», «Růžová barva», «Oranžová barva», «Fialová barva») using the example of their basic terms (синий, голубой, коричневый, серый, розовый, оранжевый, фиолетовый, modrý, hnědý, šedý, růžový, oranžový, fialový) in Russian and Czech, as well as to reveal the specifics of color vision of the world of Czech and Russian speakers by comparing the obtained data. In this study we chose to use the cognitive and cultural approach to the language where, for example, the lexical meaning of the word is viewed as a holistic image, a realized physical and sensual experience. The nature of the study has cultural linguistic tone, because, first of all, it examines the facts of the language and helps in making linguistic conclusions, and, secondly, - the results of the study allow us to make some conclusions about the social and cultural characteristics of Russians and Czechs. The study is based on analysis of contexts where selected color terms are used in the artistic...
Designing Health Interventions: The Role of Argument Type and Message Format
Schlosserová, Michaela ; Vranka, Marek (advisor) ; Švec, Kamil (referee)
8 Abstract According to the study carried out by the European School Survey Project on Alcohol and Other Drugs (ESPAD, 2015) in the Czech Republic, Czech children reported higher alcohol consumption in the last 30 days (68.5 %) compared to the EU average (48%) as well as more common encounters with binge-drinking. The objective of this thesis is to assess the role of argument type and message format found in Health campaigns. The thesis explored the perception of persuasive messages amongst the target group and offers theoretical implications for practitioners. The theoretical part is grounded in current knowledge in social psychology as well as behavioral economics while focusing on argumentation and persuasion. Key theories this thesis is based on include the Social Judgement Theory (Sherif, Sherif, Hovland and Nebergall, 1961), the Elaboration Likelihood Model (Petty and Cacioppo, 1986), the Cognitive Dissonance Theory (Festinger, 1957) and the Theory of Reasoned Action (Fishbein and Ajzen, 1975). The empirical part is based on experiment replication (Cornelis, Cauberghe and De Pelsmacker, 2013) which inspected the perception of messages that dissuade from binge-drinking amongst young adults. This thesis employs printed questionnaire distributed amongst the convenience sample of 232 students attending...
Ontology of Interaction
Machová, Světlana ; Semrádová, Ilona (advisor) ; Kalábová, Helena (referee) ; Hogenová, Anna (referee)
In this dissertation we propose a novel ontological point of view representing inner dimension of being and its interaction based on the phenomenology, quantum physics, psychoanalytic methodology and cognitive metaphor theories. Empirical findings about the phenomenology of interaction, gained from the associative experiment, open a new dimension of scientific research and interreligious discussion. Comprehension system of inner semantics leads us to a deeper understanding of the world of being. Essential Self interaction. described by cognitive metaphor and allows us identification of universal structure hidden beyond the language. Acquired linguistic data suggest that mind's metaphoric self-reflection semantics closely correlate with a concept of entangled quantum particles and light binding phenomena. This theory gave us a unique opportunity to visualize the probabilistic picture of mind itself within an interdisciplinary approach of cognitive and philosophical studies. In this work, we combine theory of physics and philosophy of language. Language, as a bridge between the two worlds: quantum and material, offers us the possibility of insight into inner reality and approach our awareness of being in a clear and undistorted form. Speech as a speech of being is woven into the context of...
